Healthy Companies

Long term, sustainable growth is the goal of most healthy companies. Reaching measured growth is not just the result of clever process or efficient systems but a direct result of the health of the individual people that make up the company, inform its decisions, set its direction and work to its success. Strength, Security & Stability are the three key attributes that create a foundation for growth in individuals and companies. These must be present for growth to occur and they must be balanced to allow for sustainable growth.

Strong

having the power to perform demanding tasks

If a strong individual is also insecure and unstable this becomes destructive, condescending and demeaning. This individual is threatened by others’ success and you don’t know if they are ever for you or against you.

Secure

confident, trustworthy, dependable and assured

If a secure individual is also weak and unstable this looks like arrogance and over-confidence. This individual tends to proceed without enough caution, does not take the advice of others and often lacks the ability to follow-through on commitments and meet deadlines.

Stable

firmly established, steady in purpose, unchanging

If a stable individual is also insecure and weak this tends to look like fear or timidity. They are not typically willing to lead others or offer input. They are not easily convinced of any change, even when necessary. Engage in silent protest, listen but do not follow.

The key to leading an organization, department or team is to have the ability to lead yourself. This starts with taking an honest inventory of both your strengths and weaknesses. It’s easier to identify the negative impact of others but much more difficult to acknowledge it in yourself and take the steps to change. The three leadership attributes in balance create the atmosphere for health.

If you have identified a combination of these in yourself or your team please feel free to reach out to discuss strategies to develop balance and growth in areas of weakness, insecurity and stability.
